It says the curent drive is a Seagate Mercury 2 SATA drive.

Do I have to find another SATA drive? How can I tell?

I just basically want to go from my 100gig 5400 to a 100gig 7200 and dump my old one in an external enclosure.

    Any ideas?

you have to replace with the same form factor and same connection.

if your existing drive is SATA, then you have to replace with an SATA drive

if your existing drive is 2.5", then you have to replace with a 2.5" drive
