I've just gotten an Inspiron 5000.

The case has a few cracks on the bottom and I'm trying to work out what would be the best way to repair it.

I would like to know exactly what kind of plastic the case is made of (possibly ABS?) as different plastics need different kinds of glue. This doesn't seem to be mentioned in TFM.

Or has anyone PERSONALLY (not "read somewhere", "was told", etc) repaired one and know of a specific kind of glue that works?

It's probably injection moulded ABS plastic. If you visit a home improvement or hobby store, you should be able to find liquid plastic type sealers or crack fillers. I wouldn't suggest these if the space you want to fill has sensitive electronic parts below. There are numerous glues that act as bonders and sealers (like Tightbond III for Wood)
