Hey guys, dells put me in a hard situation here. Okay i pretty much want a laptop for everyday home use and might occasionally take it to school. I also have a desktop but other then the graphics card it is pretty slow. pentium 4 3.2ghz, 1gb ram etc. So here are my options.

    1. Get the m1530 with pretty good specs but at the cost of $2000 here in Australia. (scared from the nvidia heat issue)

    2. Get the new inspiron 13inch laptop for $1299. (good price and neat design but bad graphics) and spend the extra $700 on replacing the mother board or buy a xbox 360 for my little gaming needs.

    3. Wait for the studio xps

    What should i do!!!

I can't speak for the last 2 options but I think the m1530 is actually a solid option. I was going to get one myself before switching over to the m15x. If you're not too serious about gaming then the 8600M should satisfy your needs. You can customize a pretty decent configuration for ~$2000 USD.

thanks for the reply. Btw this is AU$ we are talking about. but the new inspiron 13 is pretty cool and will be good to take to class cuz then if it gets stolen then it wouldnt be as much of a loss.

I would wait to see what Dell releases in the next few weeks. This gives you better options and possibly not have to deal with the Nvidia issue (as far as I have read, Nvida/Dell have not officially said that current builds are free from defects). I have a 1530 and while its solid, I would wait...if I were to do it over, I would go for a 13/14" laptop, the 15" is a bit big/heavy.

As for upgrading the desktop, forget it, my laptop has taken the place of my desktop alltogether, I have not turned it on ONCE since getting the laptop. SO much easier. I don't game much, but when I do, the xbox is a great option.
