The audio is not that great on the M1210. Besides external speakers/headphones.. what have you guys done? Any hardware/software solutions?

Laptop speaker really aren't great. I suppose you could try to get the HD package that dell offers; but it costs money.

Headphones/external speakers and soundcard are really your best bet.

    I got this

So far I am really happy with how dramatic the increase in sound quality is. But again you need to think oustide of your laptop speakers for any quality.

You can download the soundblaster audigy software for $20 if you are desperate about resurrecting your laptops sound. Some like it and some dont...

I have the HD upgrade, it does make the quality a little better. But I wanted to "bump" my dorm with music. So I went and got these. They definitly get the job done and the sound quality is great.

Actually I found the SB audigy software package made the speakers more tinny. After uninstalling it the sound was still tinny but not quite as bad. I think you should get some nice jl audio or polk 2 way 6X9's and use a shrink ray on them. Crack open your displaly casing and replace them :) Honestly though when you arent at home plug in some nice headphones. When you are at home plug in a pair of $20 cheapo speakers It'll sound much better
