Laptop is home, with my wife, but I'm at work.

What should I do first, other than telling my better half not to touch the box until I get home.

I have a wireless router set up, but I don't have any wireless devices to check to see if it is broadcasting.

What to do, what to do, what to do?

    First of all, congrats!

Breathe in, breathe out... Repeat.. :)

I'd say, first thing will not to care for the wi-fi connection, but rather start removing the bloatware on your system. Go to control panel Programs/Features, and uninstall everything uncessary in the list. Then run CCcleaner (registry cleaner program) and clean up whats left behind.

This procedure alone will speedup all subsequent reboots and shutdowns.

    I can't. I'm a pharmacist. Store can't be open without a pharmacist.

Uninstalled crap, and added a few "tips" for quicker start-up and shut-down.

It did take me awhile to get the wireless working. It helps if you turn the wireless ON. :(
