    Hi, everyone

I just bought my dell 6000 last month, I bought the 1 dimm 512M memory. I'd like to buy another 512M to realize the dual channel.

I know the two dimm memory should be same, but I don't know what brand and what type memory I should buy.

    Someone can help me?

    thank you

    Hey cryoyth,
    If you still need help...
The Dell Inspiron 6000 accepts DDR2 200-pin SO-DIMMs: either PC2-3200/400MHz, or PC2-4200/533MHz. But if you already have a 400MHz chip in your system, you might as well buy the same speed chip for your other slot because the system will default to the slower speed anyway.

For my purchase, I followed up on a suggestion from another thread in this forum and bought my RAM from NewEgg.com. Their prices beat any other retailer I could find. I bought a 1GB DDR@-533 SO-DIMM for $117 -- which is a great price. Many of the other discount sites wanted $150.

    Good luck.
