Hi all,
I have just recently installed Vista Business on my 6400, free through MSDN agreement with my uni, so im pretty happy. It detected most of the hardware exept for this:
![]()
Im thinking it could be the memory card reader built into the 6400's but im not sure, and i have nothing to test the memory card reader to see if it actually the device thats causing the problem.
Also what other drivers have 6400 vista users installed, like I am just updating the video driver for my x1400, but I dont know if I need to update any other drivers, like chipset or anything. What have other ppl done? Ive done a search through the forums but havent had much luck.
thanks all

It is hard to say. If you have a build sheet, you could compare the items on your build sheet to the expanded categories as a possible solution, but I would just go to Dell and download every Vista driver for a 6400 that pertains to my hardware and install it. Or have you already? From your post, I believe you loaded Vista and your notebook is running on generic drivers. If so, you could have devices that are running on old drivers. There are a lot of updated drivers since Vista went gold. Here is the link to Dell's 32 bit Vista drivers.

Only you know what you have for hardware.
What vista driver do i need?
