Almost ready to buy the Dell Vostro 1500. Is 80$ worth it for the two year warranty. I am not usually the type of person to spring for warranties, I view them as sort of a rip off. The only thing is there are so many things wrong with the Dells, that is the 80$ worth it, or should I stick with the one year base plan?
    Thanks for your help.

I always add a warranty to my laptop purchase of 3 years...

In my experience it always pays for itself in the end, but it depends on what the warranty offers too... Dell has great warranties and is why I keep ending up buying Dell. My i1520 is the first one with an at-home warranty, but traditionally I would have the machine sent in and back to me in 3 days all at Dell's expense. Any easily replacable parts were on my doorstep the next day after a tech support call...

So if you plan to own the machine for more than a year I would recommend the upgrade on the warranty. Afterall, there are few parts that you can replace for less than $80 anyways...

I normally don't buy extended warranties but I can see myself accidentally tripping over a power cable or falling asleep with the thing in my lap and it crashing to the floor. So I bought the complete care 3 year deal which comes with $150 Dell Dollars. $338 - $150 dell dollars = $188 / 3 = $62.67 per year which is pretty cheap insurance.

still though, for that price, any component in your computer that dies on you, or you break such as the screen will cost that 200 bucks at most to fix. and WHEN nothing goes wrong, you get to keep that money. honestly, the only thing companies like dell make money on are warranties. they make money because more often than not, people will not ever use the full value of it.

    And all their desktops...
They make tons of the XPS line, they'll charg 5,000 for a desktop with 1,500 worth of parts in it.
