My hdd for my m1330 seems to be louder than my previous one (this one being my replacement). Its like a wuuuuring sound - I'm not sure if this should be regular for hdd's today. My 5 year old toshiba made a similar sound but this m1330's new so....
btw I'm just wondering if it would hurt performance. I'm not really bothered by it, just that it might affect the computer - I will want to try to address the issue.
with this in mind, I don't want to get a new one just for this issue.

Anyone with knowledge of this , please contribute.
    Thanks

I will occasionally hear a wuuuuring sound. I believe this is the HD spinning up to speed after powering down (a power saving option). I also hear the occasional clicking noise as the heads read from the disk. You may want to look in your BIOS. In my Vostro, there is a setting that lets you choose between performance and low drive noise. I selected performance after I reformatted my C Drive. Before the format it was set to low drive noise and I barely heard anything.

Mine is ultra quiet and no clicks. In the BIOS you can adjust the hard drive setting, see if hear any difference with different settings.
