What you think of my 1520 configuration? and is 1680x1050 okay for this lap?

I have been using a Dell Insipiron 1000 the last 4 1/2 years so I don't know much about these new HD-wide screen laptops. Anyway, I had a great coupon and got an extra discount for a new 1520. Its barely over $1000 with tax/shipping included, so I couldn't resist! :)

Anyway, I wanted to know if the 1680x1050 screen is going to look good on a 15.4 screen? I read a couple threads and now I'm worried. I wish I could go to a store and see how this looks but unfortunately there's not store like that around. Keep in mind, I'm use to seeing a low end screen for the last 4 1/2 years. Btw, do you think this system will play Gears of War when it comes out? I tried playing old games on my current laptop and it was awful lol! :D

I just bought one with the same screen, in the price range there really isnt anything more powerful than the 8600m GT, worst comes to worst you can OC it if temps are in check

I assume you can always lower it to 1440x900 if icons etc are too small. Should be great for games though :)

Nice specs and nice price! I'm not familiar with that game but that 8600m GT should be able to play games w/out any issues.

The screen res is a personal opinion. I love very high detail, high res screens (my 15.4 is running 1920x1200...same as my 24" wide LCD). 1680 should be good, it all depends on your eyes lol.

cool, a day ago I was considering changing it..........from the impressions I read .....I was thinking the icons would be the size of ants and the text would be barely visible on the screen :D

How are you able to run 1920x1200 on a 15.4 screen?

My Dell Latitude had an option for a WUXGA (1920x1200) LCD.
