Where can I find my notebook's value? I have an old circa 2002, Inspiron 4150 that I might want to try and sell. Is there a place where I can find its value or do I have to guess?

    Here are its specs:

    Dell Inspiron 4150
    Windows XP Professional w/SP2
    Pentium 4 (w/SpeedStep) 1.6/1.2 GHz 512KB L2 Cache
    14.1" SXGA LCD
    30 GB HD (4200 RPM)
    512 MB DDR RAM (266MHz)
32 MB ATI Mobility Radeon 7500
    Removable 3.5" Floppy
    Removable DVD-ROM (no burner)

don't know a specific place per se, but you can check ebay for similar spec'd hardware to see what it's going for.

truthfully, i doubt you'd get more than 1 or 2 hundred for it. people generally don't buy used electronics unless it's heavily discounted, espcially something more than 2 or 3 years old. seeing as how you can buy a new notebook for 500 to 700, i think you'd be hard pressed to get much for it.

it's probably worth more to you to keep it and use it as a web browser or something?

I doubt anyone here is an expert in laptop resale values and factoring in depreciation.

Bottom line - it's worth what somene will pay for it.

Check ebay, online classified ads (local newspapers). Ask around at work.

I've seen 2 year old laptops selling (active bids) for 3-400 on ebay when I'm like "what? for that?".

Ebayers will pay anything if you make it sound like a good deal in the item decription. You could sell ice cubes on ebay if you wrote a good enough description and put up sexy pics of the bags they'd come in.

Just ship em in ziplocks so they don't leak in the mail truck.

eBay has become the defacto appraiser of used computers and components.

Search for a similarly eqiped pc on eBay andsee what the Buy it Now price is or what kind of bids it got.

Make it 11 unborn children and you have a deal!

Okay, thanks everyone. eBay seems to be the way to go on pricing then. Looks like I can get at least a hair under $200 for it. Heck, the non-working ones are getting over $120!
