I have a m1530 and there is horrible backlight bleeding in the bottom of the screen and horrible viewing angles. It's very washed out and very noticiable when watching movies in full screen. I live in Canada so in home service is not standard, only return to service depot. I'm guessing I'll have to send my laptop back for the replacement but will they just replace the screen or send me a different unit with the same specs? Or will they send me a new unit first and a shipping box to send my old unit back to them? To the people who have done this, what is the typical turnaround time?
Thanks.

Bump.
And do you guys think this backlight bleeding is bad enough to constitute a replacement?Attached Files:

Its pretty bad. What I would do if you can afford it is add 1 year of on-site service. I have done this in the past before I realized on-site service was the only way to go.

Well, to answer your question, if you do not have in-home service, you have to send your laptop in to have the screen replaced.

Yeah, that's what I figured. So, it's just a screen that is replaced, everything else like the hard drive will be left untouched? Any idea on how long this typically takes?
I would like in home service but spending an extra hundred or so right now just so that a guy will come to replace the screen doesn't seem worth it. -
Yes, it'll be just the screen that's touched. Nothing else should be touched. However, that's not to say that it won't.
It'll probably take around two weeks, is my guess.
I had the same problem with my old 1420. The screen was really bad, and Dell wanted me to send it in for screen replacement. But I told them I wanted an entirely new laptop instead. They agreed, and sent me a new one. -
Alrighty, thanks for the info Gunner.
What's the process of getting a replacement screen if I don't have in home service?
