    Hello,

    I know its for some cameras. However, if you look at my camcorder, it has the 4-pin FireWire connector, and if you connect the cable from it, the other end is a 6-pin. My laptop (1520) only has a 4 pin connector.

    aren't all devices that support firewire have a 4 pin connector on them and have to be connected to a 6 pin? or am I missing something? The firewire cable that I have is shown in the picture above. (to your right is the 4 pin which is connected to the camcorder and the left have to be connected the a computer)

    ======EDIT==========
    or mybe I have to buy something like this?

    You just need to get the correct cable, 4-pin to 4-pin.

    i use a 4pin(laptop) to 6pin(ext HD) to use a FW HD. i get about 20MB/s max on USB, but with FW its more like 32.

    and the CPU usage is mUCH LOWER. no brainer there.
