I just ordered an e1505 this week and it's arriving next Monday! When I looked at tracking on the ship date, the laptop was in IL (I'm guessing that's where it was built). I live in WI, so I thought it would take a day or two to get here and I was assuming it would arrive today. I looked at tracking today, and guess where the laptop is. Tennesee! Wtf? I know how some companies go through complex logistics, but what are these people (UPS) are actually trying to do? I live in WI, which is one state north of IL and it would be a lot faster and efficient to just deliver it north, instead of going south to Tennessee and then deliver it to me. With gas prices at an all time high and global warming...you get the point.

First of all, it was made in Malaysia, then it ships over to Tennesee (thats the boxing stage).

Are you sure it was in IL? Where did you see this at? It might just be an error. But for UPS, when they say its coming, its coming, and you wil more than likely have this computer on Monday

Boxing is before shipping. That is where they put your notebook plus anything else you ordered with it in a box. They also run any last tests they need to and replace parts accordingly. After they do all this, they get your info, slap it on the box and then it is sent out in shipping in order of the processed #

Not exactly. They do put in a box and make sure everything is correct, but the reason boxing takes so long is because they are shipping it from Malaysia to Tennessee as Nick said.

Shipping is when it has reached Tennessee and is on the UPS/FedEx/DHL truck to the user's home.

So what happened to me when it started in Nevada? That was the UPS origin scan. And also, I had one day shipping, and it shipped on the 8th. Dell said it would arrive the 9th and UPS said it had a reshedualed delivery of the 13th, which was then changed to just delivery on the 12th. What on Earth went on there? So much for next bussness day shipping...

That's been happening alot lately. Someone else was complaining that Dell had actually put a hold on the shipment and UPS couldn't deliver it until the shipment date that Dell had stated.

I'm really confused by Dell's 'Delivery date'. My laptop is being shipped with Purolator. On Dell's website, they said that I should recieve it tomorrow, but on Purolator's website, it has not even crossed the border (into Canada) yet. There is NO way I will recieve it this week. I can't see it clearning customs too quickly. Anyone else have their package shipped Purolator? Think I'll recieve it this week?

It can depend on when UPS gets it. If UPS got it after 7PM CST on the 8th, then yes, they are going to reschedule it. And with the weekend, it pushed it up another 2 days. Your going to get it tommorow at least.

But most think if UPS got it that day, its going to get to you next day. Just depends all on the timing...

Is that the Shipping date, or the delivery date. Im confused by how you mean - "im confused by Dell's 'delivery date'"

The origin scan was at 6:42 in the morning on the 8th, so it was definatly early enough... Oh well, I was just looking forward to it being hear on Friday.

Edit: I just realized that the arrival date is the same day as Dell's original ship date estimate. Coincidence?

I don't have current info but used to be all the laptops coming from Asia flew into a big customs hub at Indianapolis. It can take 24+ hours to process there. Then the ones for the east coast side went to distribution in Tennessee (this can vary).

usually believe UPS. Once your laptop transfers to UPS, I don't think Dell updates their info to match UPS>

My order status has moved to shipped, but fedex is showing a Future delivery requested on their site. I ordered next business day shipping, but have to wait till 14th, even though everything is ready. Why would Dell want to force a future ship date? The payment has already cleared, so there should be no reason for holding it like this. I am so mad

Just an update... I contacted Dell regarding this, and they said they have sorted it with Fedex and it should be here on the 12th. If not, they will give me a 50 $ credit !! Wow, Dell customer service really rocks. :)

Like I said, Dell has been known to do that before.

The only other thing I can think is if your laptop wasn't completely in Fedex's system yet, so it didn't have a date. It takes 24 hours (normally) from the time your status changes to shipping - to show in the deliver's system. I'm not 100% sure on how. All I know is that dell uses a 3rd party to take the laptops from Tennessee to the carrier's regional center.
