Still have a 1737 with the RGB LED 1920x1080 17" Display, its an older machine But I still have yet to see any other display match it or equal it.

Will they offer the RGB LED option again I don't see it on their website

Given the Studio line is now axed, and they don't offer anything but standard HD and HD+ resolution on t he Inspirons, you would have to go to XPS or Precision to get RGBLED screens, or in the XPS case B+RGLED.

I've used all of the screens as of now.

    B+RG Matte (AUO B156HW01 V.4)
    B+RG Glossy (AUO B156HW01 V.7)
    True RGBLED IPS Matte(Precision M4600)
    True RGBLED TN Glossy(Alienware M17x R2)

The way I put it in terms of brightness is
B+RG Glossy >> True RGBLED TN Glossy > B+RG Matte >= True RGBLED IPS Matte

    In terms of contrast,
True RGBLED IPS Matte > True RGBLED TN Glossy > B+RG Glossy > B+RG Matte

    Outdoor viewability
B+RG Matte > True RGBLED IPS Matte > B+RG Glossy > True RGBLED TN Glossy

    Clarity of the screen
B+RG Glossy >> True RGBLED TN Glossy > B+RG Matte >> True RGBLED IPS Matte
(The RGBLED IPS Matte option has noticeable grains compared to the others)

    Color representation / Vividness
True RGBLED IPS Matte >> True RGBLED TN Glossy >= B+RG Glossy >> B+RG Matte

It all depends on what you are looking for in a screen. But for a student looking for bright colors I would choose B+RG Matte or B+RG Glossy. These two have surprisingly different brightness differences, contrast differences, and simply put, the glossy panel is better if you don't mind the glare.

True RGBLED IPS Matte is gorgeous in terms of color representation and vividness, everything pops out and it is hands down the best of all panels. However there is a noticeable amount of grain compared to the B+RG, so I'd be cautious as I noticed the grain bothering me a lot when I first got mine. Also the brightness seems to be a bit low compared to the B+RG panels.

Thanks guys I found it. No more 17" models (for now)

but the XPS 15 has the B+RGB LED Display in 1920x 1080, as soon as Ivy Bridge Gets released thats gonna be a sweet machine.

Much preffer the Glossy the colors and everything is more vivid.

    isn't your screen like mine [1735 @ 1920 x 1200?] unless you've got a replacement screen?

My computer is dying constantly: usbs not working, powerdown, not charging etc., etc., had no end of trouble with mine.

I'm going to try and get a replacement system, but was thinking of one with the 1920 x 1200 rather than the 1920 x 1080 which most now are. I am a designer and would miss the extra vertical pixels - what you think?
