1) I've seen the 20% off coupons here, is there any way I could get a better deal now or any time soon? I've also read the whole Dell quitting coupons thingie, just thought and hoped there might be some less public deal or something.
2) If bought through small business u get $250 off, would that happen to be combineable with the 20% off?
3) I was thinking about buying 512mb ram and smallest hdd then buy OCZ 2gb 667mhz and a hitatchi 80gb 7200rpm SATA from newegg for about 325USD in total, anywhere I can find a better deal for memory and hdd?
Thanks a lot for any help.

check the dell outlet. They are practically the same as new
-
I'd really prefer a brand new one.. are there any great deals out there?
-
If you go through Fatwallet, you get an additional 3% rebate.
You can also try calling Dell and see if they'll give you an additional discount (I used the current HP pricing, with APP discount, on the DV6000t to spur them on). This is dependent on the rep you get though (I called back twice). That's what I did to order the E1505 (supposed to be delievered tomorrow). It took a while on the phone, but in the end, I got a slightly better deal than using the 20% off coupon+Fatwallet rebate. -
I would advise getting the hard drive from them as it will be nearly the same price. That way, you don't have to replace your HD, and the OS is already installed. But getting ram aftermarket is the only way to go.
-
Right now there are really no great coupons out -
ok thanks guys and if i got it right there will most likely be no good deals any time soon?
didnt find the option of a 7200rpm drive so i think i will order it separatley if i'm gonna get memory that way anyway, plus i wont be running the OS that comes along.
if I cant find any better deals i'll use fatwallet, thanks Tarny.
But Please keep the deals/info coming.
TIA -
So I was over on Fatwallet reading through some threads and some people expect far better deals to come along in mid Oct or so, would u guess thats the case? If so I sure can hold off till then, and just currently the best deal would be 23% off when ordering through Fatwallet?
Would buying through their EPP be cheaper and would it be hard for me to pull it off? (only looking to buy one unit)
One last question, is newegg the best place when I'm looking to get memory and a hdd?
Thanks a lot for any help at all. -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
the outlet rules, and a lot of their systems are brand new, I'm more than satisfied with mine, and will definately consider that route again for future purchases
-
also, who cares if the OS is already installed, the first thing you do when you get the notebook should be to reinstall the OS. -
Iceman0124, I guess it'd be ok for me to buy there I could just uncheck the ones with scratches, but yet there are no core 2 duo there and thats what I'm looking to get. Any idea when they will be available there? Any way to use coupons there?
And drumfu I agree, way too much crap that comes with the OS, and I'm not even gonna use the OS that it gets shipped with so its really np for me to get a drive elsewhere.
Can anyone answer if we should expect a lot greater deals in middle of October cause I can wait till then?
Thanks -
I'm gonna send this one up to the top.
Should I expect better deals in middle of October and wait till then? -
-
Ok, thank you, guess I'll wait till then unless I find a killer deal before, not that I really care about the gfx card or the OS that comes with it.
Does anyone have the slightest clue about when I'd be able to get a core 2 duo in dell outlet? -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
just keep checking, I'd say it shouldnt be long, and the scratch and dent items are usually the best deals, and are not necessarily used machines, they usually end up getting marred during final assembly, mine was a scratch and dent and it took me nearly half an hour of careful inspection to find anything, there was 1/4 inch hairline scratch on the top lid, something I never would have noticed if I werent looking for it, I ended up with a great machine for about 400 bucks less than I could on dells regular site with the current coupons
-
ok thanks a lot iceman, I'll keep checking, decided to wait till mid October and either get a good deal for a new lappy or maybe get an outlet if I can find a great deal with the components I want.
If anyone got any other tips/deals pls keep em coming! -

I want the T7200 2ghz 4mb cache, I also need a SXGA lcd and might want descent graphic/sound, hdd and memory doesnt really matter, if its not good enough I'll order them elsewhere.
I'l keep my eyes open, thanks again. -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
the latest and greatest cpus usually arent worth the price premium in my opinion, if you feel you really need 4meg cache, I'd wait till the next batch of chips comes out and the prices get more reasonable
-
when will that be? I'm not really gonna do work that require too much system resources but I'm not gonna be upgrading any time soon so I want it to last.
How big would the difference be in performance between the 1660 u mentioned and the 2000 i mentioned?
thanks -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
what are you going to be using it for?, unless your doing a lot of heavy video encoding, rendering, photoshop, etc you probably wont see much of a difference, if your main use will be office apps, internet/email, photo viewing and audio/video playback, the base core2 will more than suit your needs and then some, for that matter the core duo would serve you quite well, and for some time, its your decision, and you cant go wrong with a faster more capeable chip, I just dont think they are worth the money, I almost always by the slowest to second slowest chip in the latest generation lineup, it usually winds up being the best bang for the buck
-
I got ya, mostly office stuff, browsing, movies, a little gaming maybe, and a few applications requiring a bit more system resources. But I guess neither of those cpus would have any problems handling it if my current desktop can (amd 1800+ @2ghz 200x10, 512mb ddr400, ati 9800np).
I might just take your advice. -

no problem what so ever, my 1505 with 1.6 core duo with 1gig of ram keeps pace with my desktop in everything I use it for except games, and heavy media encoding, and it does surprising well with that, athlon64x2 3800+oc'd to over 4800+speeds, 2 gig of ram and a 7900gt, good luck with your purchase and enjoy it
-
i was just checking dell outlet today and found one with the core 2 duo 1660 which was at $999 (cancelled order), a new e1505 with the 2000 4mb and some other extra improvements such as one 9 cell and one 6 cell battery, x1400 instead of x1300 etc, was only $222 more. And that one was new, with that price difference and those improvements I'll go for the new one as I'll be buying mem+hdd separatley so I can get my prices pretty low buying new by chosing 60gb drive and 512mb ram. So unless outlet gets a bit cheaper, a new one is the way to go for me.
Thank you for your inputs sir. -

good luck and enjoy it
