I ordered my m1330 on March 20th and after payment being processed it went into the pre-production stage on 3rd of April.

It's still in that stage as of today...according to the Dell site anyway.

Whats the average time for an order to spend in the pre-production stage?

I'm not in a big hurry for it to be processed, just wondering how long it may take.

Oh, not sure how big of a difference it makes, but my order was placed with Dell Ireland.

I don't know and ofcourse nobody but Dell can tell you exactly, but even if you knew I think it wouldn't be really useful.

How long it takes before your laptop is produced highly depends on what exact configuration you ordered and on the availability of the parts. One day there's a shortage on batteries, the other day a shortage of a specific kind of LCD screens, and next on for example the Intel Penryn (T8xxx and T9xxx series) processors. It's hard to predict.

What configuration did you order exactly?

My XPS M1530, specs see in my sig below, was ordered on 29 March, went into preproduction immediately (I paid by credit card), went into production yesterday, and is currently on its way from Poland to me :D

    I'm in the UK btw.

Mine was 1 day pre production. It took longer to deliver than anything else. From order to doorstep took 1 week.
