I installed the one from dell's site for vista 32bit and i dont get an nvidia tray icon or anything. Is this some generic dell driver? Should I install the official nvidia driver? Will that work?

Or is there a better video driver I should be installing?

    laptopvideo2go.com

The latest one is 169.28 and has various fixes for Unreal Tournament 3.

    Thanks.

Also, if you don't see the control panel in the tray, go to start->control panel->classic view->nvidia control panel.

I have an XPS M1530 and I just downloaded and tried to install this driver. It won't let me install, citing that it can't find any compatible hardware. wtf?!??!

If you use laptopvideo2go, it has detailed instructions on how to get it to work. It's a pain but the only way currently to bypass that error you received. For whatever reason, Dell's and some other manufacturers are retarded and basically only want you to download from their database. However, Dell doesn't have the latest driver.

How is it a pain? All you do is take the .inf file supplied by laptopvideo2go and copy it over the one from Nvidia.

I've downloaded this driver, but I've been waiting for someone else to test it on their M1530 before I install it. :) Let us know how it goes. I've seen some stuttering with the version supplied by Dell.

It's a pain when with most drivers you simply download, run the exe and voila, it's installed. Most people don't want to deal with copying inf files when they are unfamiliar with the process.

You don't even copy files! All you do is download the .INF file into the whichever folder you downloaded and extracted the driver into, run the exe and VOILA, its installed.

Currently the highest version I see in the "latest versions" are:

    XP 64bit 156.83
    XP 32bit 156.83
    Vista 64bit 162.52
    Vista 64bit 169.12
    Vista 32bit 167.45

Where is 169.28? Or maybe my now there is a newer one.

    i believe you go to:
    -community forums
-16x.xx drivers for (whichever OS you have)

i have 169.25. More than a 150 pt increase in 3dmark06 than the dell driver.

    Good luck

I'm using 169.04 right now, seems pretty decent, though I really haven't tried many others. Anyone found a better driver (if any) from their experiences?

Is 169.28 still the best driver to go for with Vista 32-bit or is it best to use more recent 173.x or 174.x drivers and overclock these?
