Went to spec a Dell for a friend today and they 1520s are gone... and the 1525 only comes with the Intel3100 integrated video... what happened to the Nvidia 8400 and 8600 options?

Now it looks like if you want better video you HAVE to go XPS or Vosto.

Inquiring minds... are they preping new machines? or are they no longer going to support good video in inspiron models?

They want to make the Inspiron line purely budget, and the XPS the gaming line.

Otherwise, people would just get the cheaper 1520 with a powerful gpu instead of the more expensive XPS.

Which is exactly what me and a bunch of other people did when the 1520 came out...lol. Though that sucks now that they don't have something in the middle.

Well my last two computers have been dell (600m with ati9000, e1505 with x1400) and fully intended to go 1520 + 8600gt with my tax return.

But... I just cant see going the XPS route... too little bang for the mega bucks... If they dont come out with something in the middle by the time my tax return gets here ill be looking elsewhere.

I was able to point my friend at the 1520s that are still on the site right now so he can get good video. Thanks HMaster92!

I really doubt dell will drop the middle... thats probably where most of their sales are... and most of them will goto other venders instead of going to XPS. Just my 2 cents.

Well, yes but only technically, most average people looking for a Dell laptop have no clue what the Vostro line is, or that they can order one just like a small business. Also, many would find the all black color a downside compaired to the Inspiron line.
