What do you guys use to check the temps? NVidia Monitor on mine shows my GPU at 63C idle :(

I use I8KFanguis' hardware sensor. I get 49 with Rivatuner.
Your result is dependent on what you have running on your desktop as well which may be GPU intensive.

Alright, I've messed around w/ all of these for awhile and from what we've concluded in the 1400/1420 overclocking thread, we aren't SURE what is reliable and the temperature readings also possibly vary between Vista and XP.

ATItools, rivatuner, and ntune on Vista all give the GPU reading as the Chipsettemperature according to I8kfangui +10 degrees. The only way to see would be to take it apart and get an infrared thermometer.

But for the record... According to i8kfangui I'm getting these readings on Vista

    Idle/fullload
    CPU 39/58
    GPU 44/52
    Memory 47/55
    Chipset 62/82
    HD 39/42

As i stated, other tools give me my GPU reading as the chipset +10

To Gastric: Wow your chipset temperature readings are low

Nvidia monitor shows my GPU temp going up fast when I run 3dmarks (oc or not) but i8kfangui shows almost no change when running them... we are talking like 1 degree or 2 at most...

    Something is off here...

The opposite goes for your CPU temps too, really low. Though there are too many variables which effect the results for each system and everyone will have different results.

Your Chipset temperatures seem really high though.

I just replaced that stock "goop" they use for the CPU with Arctic Silver 5 today, heat transfer/dissipation seems to have improved and will probably get better after the break-in period.

    @ Devedander

As I stated earlier, the GPU reading from the programs are reading from different sensors. Nvidiamonitor/atitools/rivatuner all read the same thing while i8kfangui reads something else. Thats why the temperature rising/staying same is all whack.

@Gastric I think the best way to figure out what are normal temperatures are is to get a bunch of different users to post their idle temps and their temps under load. Maybe their current driver as well.

Indeed, that would be the best option to round up statistics and determine an overall average.
