At least 6 months would be my guss as the 8600gt is still pretty new and can handle most things really well.

LOL nonamebowler, he just put in "10 char" below his response to make sure that his post would get posted. I am assuming he did that because these forums require that we use at least 10 characters to make a post qualify for posting.

My prediction is that this will happen SOON. Even though the 8600M GT can handle most applications, Dell isn't going to stand still. The 8600M GT has actually been out for a while. Other companies are already moving over to the 8800M GT. I think there was a Gateway notebook going on sale for less than $2,000 that had the graphics card.

But don't expect this to take place by Friday. Soon, but not THAT soon. I'm speculating that unless Alienware (now owned by Dell) has already selected an 8800M GT-compatible notebook motherboard, Dell won't be releasing an Inspiron 1525 that can be fitted with the card.

As for discounts...who knows? They come and go. I predict that further into the future, the discounts will make the 8800M GT affordable to obtain as a graphics option. Integrated X3100 graphics or later will still be the budget option for basic level users. But if Dell wishes to begin gaining some market share in the domestic notebook market, they had better maintain or even steepen their discounts. So again, expect the discounts to remain as available as ever. Check back at these forums and any others you visit.

So what card are they going to put in there? Let's make this multiple choice:

    A) The 8800m that doesn't fit.
    B) The 9600m that doesn't exist.
    C) The smelly one that they pulled out of their backside.

well we will just have to hurry up and wait for the 9600m to come out!!! if the video card is part of the mother board which i think it is you might not be able upgrade
