hey there everyone!
Looking to get my e1705 maxed out come march-may..anybody know when the $750 coupon comes out? if so, are they for only specific hardware on the model?
I know dell is giving a 10 or 15% discount, but can one use a coupon on top of the discount?
is it still selling with the funky white trim? can I paint it, and still have the warranty?
Thanks all!

The 750$ off coupon , in my opinion, will never come out again. Luckily I got a chance to use it once.
There's now only 20% off coupon. This coupon doesn't actually lower the system's price much when you want a max out. The Closest you might reach with coupon and sales tax is nearly 2000$for a max out one. I tried to configure manytimes but after some calculations, it's still expensive. Unless you want a medium specs with 7900GS card.
Yes, the system will come with those "white trim". I don't know if u can paint it. I think you can put sticker or some sorts similar. and still keep your warranty. As long as you don't touch anything or modify anything inside the computer, your warranty will not be expired. -
Oh shoot! I thought they come out once a year...
-
They use to come out every blue moon. Then there were big coupons out every week. I heard that Dell is phasing out the big coupons.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if they don't come back either. I haven't seen them around in a long time now.
But what khanfat said is very true. I used a $750 off coupon and still paid much more for an e1705 than others did buying a few weeks later without it. Keep an eye on the prices and coupons/offers, as they are always moving. If you time it right...you will get a great deal.
And yes, maxing out the specs will only negate the specials as Dell's RAM and HD upgrades are quite expensive.
Good luck. -
I don't think they are ever coming back. One thing to keep in mind is that dell totally changed the price of things. Before upgrades were really expensive, because everyone was using the $750 off coupon. Now upgrades are cheaper than they were before, and in general the pricing is not that much different than it was before. If your looking for a deal though, Dell outlet is a great place to look!

It seems wierd how one week I configure a E1705, and get a low price, and the next week, I get a high price, it just soesn't seem consistant..why is this?
also if you go to the front page and choose laptop "home and home office", you get to the page which says "up to $286 off your total system order" it says: "InspironTM E1705 notebooks with E-value codes or order codes containing the following sequence: DNDWGA2 $243 Off Instantly " uh..what are e value codes?
my other question is, can I use one of the dell coupons listed on this site with the dell "up to $286 off your total system order' sale?
also, which coupon is better, the 20% OR $300 OFF? sorry, i was never good in arithmatics. also, can some explain the coupons to me?
If you look at the 2 files uploaded, I configured an e1705 minus 1gb of ram I think dell overprices on and can be had new for $100. also, the 2.16 cpu is twice as expensive, so the 2.0 is fine..anyways, the price is very expensive..yesterday I got the price down to $1900 or so with the same configuration..how can this be?
any help appreciated!Attached Files:

So not worth it for the above.

Back at the end of November I got a e1705 with:
T7200 Core 2
7900GS
80GB 7200 RPM HD
1920 x 1200 WUXGA
2 GB of RAM
And paid $1500 -
T7200
7900GS
2GB 667
Truelife UXGA
100GB 5400rpm
And I got it for $1185 before Tax. Maybe try checking the outlet out? I know the units are refurbished, but you could put this notebook next to a new one and i'd bet anyone 10$ you couldn't see a difference. -
that's good deal from Outlet. I 've looked at outlet yesterday or so, there're no E1705 left.
-
with the $750 coupon off, last year; $1365.

I only know the answer to this one. At $1500 the coupons both take off 300 dollars. Anything higher than $1500 allows you to save more with the %20 coupon.
Sorry, can you explain this to me? big noob in the house.. -
20% of 1400 = 280.
20% of 1500 = 300.
20% of 1600 = 320.
So the $300 flat discount coupon works best if the final cost of the laptop is below $1500. And the 20% discount saves alot more money if final cost is more than $1500.
If you can't calculate, how did you become Jedi Master?
OB1 apparently did not teach you well. -
