Haven't heard news on the Inspiron/XPS line yet. I would say though that I beleive most companies will have their laptop lines fully refreshed sometime this summer in preperation for the school year. They are starting late this month, early next month, but it will take time since the non-refreshed lines are still good laptops and they will want to sell them off.

Well considering there's going to be no "8500M GT" it would make sense to just put the 8400M GT in an M1210 and put it out.

There are also plenty of rumors Dell is delaying their Santa Rosa refresh on consumer notebooks because they have a new chassis design for their Inspirons, and they're developing a new 14.1" XPS M1410 with the 8600M GT.

There is a reason why the XPS / Inspirons have not been announced, this is because they have tons of stock of the old systems which they must get rid of.

It's a business, if they were announced, you would hold off on buying now wouldn't you...

Yeah, but I think that Dell saw Santa Rosa coming considering it was no surprise to us. They could have sold off ahead of time. Maybe they just didn't sell enough so they are extending.

Or, perhaps while Santa Rosa and nVidia 8M have been announced, they are just that, announced. Maybe Dell is waiting until they can actually ship the things to announce them.

The dell sell off continues! A month ago the e1505 had 4 video card options. A week ago it only had two. Today it only has one. A week ago the nvidia 7300 was standard and the ati x1400 was extra $50. Now the x1400 is standard and there is no 7300, so the price of the e1505 actually came down $50 today.

Does anybody in here have the ability to use clairvoyance and look into the future?

Or... does anybody here have a slight estimation on when Dell will release Santa Rosa for M1710? Will it happen in May? In June? Or even later?

I really, really, need a new laptop now, and the time I'm able to wait for this is limited.

Well, May is almost done...so I doubt it. End of June, or beginning of July, certainly possible :D

My guess...probably not. Intel is pricing them at about the same amount AFAIK, which means final prices for us shouldn't be that different. Maybe a little more at first, but not for long.
