Calling for sure, in my opinion. It's far more personal, and the rep can hear if you're genuinely upset or not about something. If you're polite and to the point, but firm, I find that usually works to resolve any issues I might have.

I sometimes find them not understanding what I say and at other times I don't understand them!

I've sent them few e-mails and if Dell won't confirm my 200 gift card i'll call them just once on Monday to make sure they understand their own rebates and promotions. Than I would propably cancel my order and get a HP dv6500t instead or maybe wait for Cyber Monday and see what deals will be available online

Yes, that can be a problem. :D But I still prefer to call, even if it takes a few more minutes than it normally would. :)

just got an e-mail from one of the dell's manager s. he writes that they can't combine two promotions ($500 coupon and $200 gift card) although I've configured laptop for $1499.00+, but they gladly would give me a 4% discount. wtf? I don't want their $40 when i intitled to a $200 like every1 else. I bet if I didn't e-mail them in a 1st place and didn't ask to confirm that $200 gift card I would just get it automatically. Well I'll give them a call Sunday or Monday and if they don't wise up than I'll just cancell the order and get Gateway M-6824 with huge 3Gb RAM and nice video card for just $899.99 @ local Office Depot

I voted for chat... you don't have to worry about whether or not you can understand them and there is less waiting than email.

chat is great too, they have less time than e-mail department to answer questions you have so they more likely give your what you want

ne1 knows who you get by calling toll free number ? is it going to be someone located in the USA or in India ?

especially if you want to speak with Customer Inconvenience Department ?
