Something like the 1520 line and pricerange
    4-core processor instead of 2
    4 gigabyte of ram
    7200+RPM harddrive
    512MB video card
    maybe even a bluray burner

LIke when do you think there will be an Inspiron like that, for the same price as the 1520?

uhm.. im not too sure. but definately not in the near future. They just announced a quad core in the Clevo 900C (currently in pre orders by Pioneer and Eurocom) and even Sager stated that the excess heat is just too much and will probably cause problems. I think quadcores will probably be accessible in about 1.5 - 2 years. but when it can fit in a 15.4 inch notebook is just quite a ways away. i dont doubt that it will happen but its going to take a long long time.

as for the other components, they'll all accesible to the 15 inch realm and prices will go down definately...maybe 2-3 years when were in that full out consumer accessibility?

yup. i just said in 1.5-2 years that people will able to buy them, such as alienware + falcon northwest + other boutiques will be all selling them(in larger chassis of course). definately not in that inspiron 1520 price range

ok. then unfortunately I highly doubt that a quad core in a laptop is not going to happen for a while. you could probably get everything else for an ok price (still more expensive than a 1520) for everything else.

1 year is just my optimistic thinking. Well, you never know. Once intel start using 45nm technology, the heat wont be an issue any more. We are not too far from quad-core.

IIRC there is a Quad Core Processor for Laptops on Intel's Roadmap. Penyrn may have 4 cores, I'm not sure. If not that then Nehalem. But yes in 1 yr no way. In 2-3 more likely
