    When does Dell charge your CC

    Hey all
    I ordered my new 1520 on 7/17. The estimated ship date was 8/1. Get my email from them, and it now says est. ship date is 8/6, but they still havnt charged my CC. Not that thats a bad thing, but I just want to make sure nothing is missing.
    Also, Dell is in Texas right??? I'm in California....how come they charged me sales tax?? Local satelite or something??

    They probably authorized it to make sure the right amount is in your account. It's illegal for them to charge your card before it ships. Mine shipped today and it still hasn't been charged yet. I bet it will charge soon though.

    They charge it when it ships, anything you may see on your card is just a hold to make sure the funds are there. They also charge tax to any state where they have a location, such as a dell kiosk in a shopping mall.

    they pend the amound right after you place your order. charge after it is shipped.

    They actually took the amount out of my CC the same day I ordered it... That's not normal???

    They immediately send a request to the Credit Card, the moment you order.

    Actual charge happens afterwards.

    If you cancel an order and reissue it, the original amount remains locked up and a new request for the new order is requested.
