Does anyone who's been around here awhile have a sense about when the current Dell EPP 12% deal might expire? Is this something that's always available or something that Dell could pull at any time?

    EPP never ends.

However, the current promotions like the $799 off of the M1330 only last until the 31st. You can often find the expiration date by clicking for more details on the promotion in your shopping cart.

Thanks. I saw the end date for the $669 deal, but couldn't find any expire date on the 12% EPP deal. So EPP is always the same percentage (although it's a different % for different institutions/people)?

Yeah EPP is the same price always, but I believe that it depends on the price of your system. For example, I believe your system must be $1600+ to get 12% off, otherwise you only get 8%

It most definitely depends on your company. The company I work for gets a great discount on computers that is always the same percentage, regardless of the price of the system. Sometimes the special offers stack, like the current promotion for the $669 off the XPS 1530 deal. Sometimes they don't.

I just bought a Midnight Blue XPS 1530 with:

    Intel T7500 (2.2GHz/800MhzFSB, 4M L2 Cache)
160GB 7200 rpm hard drive with Free Fall Sensor
    256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
    WSXGA+ TrueLife
    Intel 4965AGN Wireless-N Mini-card
6 Cell and 9 Cell Batteries
    355 Bluetooth Module (2.0+EDR)
    8X DVD+/-RW Slot Load Drive
    3 year Warranty
    3 year Accidental Damage

for a grand total of $1,325 including tax and shipping. I am pretty happy with that deal.

How did you manage that deal? Do you mind breaking it down for me? I just configured one fairly similar, T7500, 3gb RAM, 120mg 7200 rpm HD, 256MB 8600M GT
N wireless card, both batteries, BT, DVD/RW 3year warrenty and Accidental Damage

But with the $594 off and my 12% EPP discount, after tax and shipping it was ~$1640.

    Thanks

In addition to $594 off and 12% EPP, I got 4% off for using DPA and free shipping... I ordered on-line, not through a rep.

I swung the same set up with 1 9 cell battery and 4 year warranty (but not accident damage) for 1371 plus $270 in gift cards. That was with EPP and DPA.

DPA= Dell prefered Account (ie dell creidt card) apply online....

EPP: Empoyee Purchase program ? (discount due to a buisness affiliation)

I tried last night to use my DPA to get a discount (4% would be awesome!) but didn't see one in my cart, is there something special you guys had, or do I call and ask for it?

    Thanks

I don't know what I did... At first, the deal didn't display in the cart (and I didn't even know about it). But after dinking around for a while I noticed that my total price had dropped by about $85. It must have been after I logged into my DPA account that the price changed.

I suppose that it is also possible that the 4% is linked to the org you're getting your EPP discount through...?
