Hello,
I am getting close to purchasing a new machine to replace by Latittude and am not entirely thrilled with my only choice the D410.
Since it has been out on the market since March - I wonder whether Dell might be getting close to replacing it or refreshing the line-up?
Any thoughts on when Dell traditionally does this - or what prompts refreshes?
The only reason I need an upgrade is because my processor speed is starting to really slow down.
I love the screen on this 3 year old computer and find it to be sharper, brighter and more readable from harder angles that the 410s I have seen in the office.
I also like the form factor better than the multi-color multi-shaped D410.
Will I have to hold out for a much longer period of time i.e. 6 months - or is there something on teh verge of being announced?
Thanks!

Depends on what you need it for, but there shouldn't be anything out there that makes a significant difference to you. They've updated the selections for this machine along the way and turn over the latitude line very slowly. I don't think we'll see anything until next year.

Our dell rep has said that at the Beginning of the next calendar year the D410 will End of Life and the new model will become available.

I would guess they will update in line with the Yonah release, which last I heard was start of Jan. Whether the update will make much difference to you or not is another question, but I think there are improved integrated graphics in the new supporting chipset which would be nice to have. Physically I doubt there will be much change, since the Lattitudes stay fairly constant.

When is Dell likely to replace the D410?
