    Hey,

I am gonna pick up an M1530 with the only upgrades being a T7500 and an 8600gt, I will upgrade the Ram myself and probably the hard drive later on as well but not immediately. I was wondering when the best time to buy would be seeing as the current deal we get on the m1530 sucks big time (100 bucks off only if you get the 1199 model). Any tips or suggestions or guesses. Basically I am wondering if tehre will be a better deal post xmas/new years but dont wanna wait till the end of january to order it. Thaanks

Personally I would look to ebay and united states resellers. Thats what I did for my M1330, bought and paid for just waiting for the guy to ship it now.

But thats up to you. If you want it from Canada then I would suggest waiting till Feb.

Will you avoid duty if you have it shipped as a gift ?

I highly suggest not purchasing your computer in the US. If my memory serves me well, you will of course be hit with the duty charges once you cross the border which can be rather hefty considering it is still a $1000+ laptop in the US. Also, any warranty that is on the product will be voided and not applicable once you cross the border. So if you are getting any tech support, or even the standard 1-yr Dell warranty cannot be used unless used in the US.

In fact it is being shipped as a gift with a note inside saying it was forgotten by me when I came to visit. Also there is no trouble with having the warranty transferred over to me. The seller will call dell and advise them he is moving and cannot keep his laptop so is selling it. They will transfer it all to me. The warranty I am getting is 4yr with 1yr lojack.

This has been done many times in the past with other Canadians purchasing from the states. The key is that it is all done right.

Outkast: It is not a bad idea, I have thought about it but for me it just isnt worth the hassle. I am gonna finance probably about a third of the laptop as I can only realistically afford to put about 600 or 800 on my VISA right now. but a couple hundred bucks over a few months is no biggie. I just wish we had that damn 669 off deal here in Canada
