I read a review which mentioned that the 600M has been around for a few years already. Any opinions on when they might come out with a different model to replace it? I would hate to buy one and have them come out with a new model a month later.

I'm taking a wild guess, but I really don't look for them to release something until towards the end of the year or next year. The 600m is one of the more popular basic notebooks, so its not very likely to be replaced anytime soon. Plus it is one of Dell's lighter Inspiron notebooks (700m is the only one lighter I believe).

Dell doesn't release info beforehand and I really haven't seen anything in the rumormill. There have been rumors about a 19inch to be released in 2006, but that won't replace the 600m.

they were going to stop producing the 600m when the 700m was released...but people kept buying the 600m so they didn't stop it. then they were going to stop the 600m production this spring...but it's still there isn't it? well, they won't be replacing it anytime soon and i don't think they'll pull it as long as people keep buying it.

I knew the 700m replaced the 300m but wasn't sure if they had plans for it to replace the 600m...kinda seems like a strange replacement to me.

i would assume that when dell releases the 14.1" widescreen that has been talked about, the 600m will be replaced. as well, it will probably have the same design scheme as the 700m, 6000, and 9300.

I'd say it'll be discontinued right when the new Tablet PC comes out for Dell. This is when 700M will replace it for sure with another new Dell product to make some space... That's what I'm assuming... Can't have to many notebooks out, people are to stupid to decide what they need when they get so much varity and choices so they must limit the products by discontuing one and adding one.

It's kinda like which would you rather have? a bullet to the stomach or the balls?

Of cours emost people say stomach but its the WORST place te get shot why it's the MOST painful spot with your fluid filled cavity and other toxic fluids gushing out into the cavity; where as taking in the balls will surly server you as a man but most likly you'll die of shock.
