    Simple...

When the demand goes down... which doesn't look like it will happen for a few months (atleast).

Based on m1210 experience... not for a while. They don't usually do discounts on XPS.

This is a brand new model not even shipping yet, no discounts for a long time!

Once its replacement comes out. They barely ever discount XPS systems.

When it's so outdated you don't want it anymore.

From past reviews of Dell's pricing scheme with the XPS models.
I inferred that Dell would probably not give any discounts or sales on the XPS model.

I've found that Dell has not given any significant sales for any XPS models, with the exception of the case whereby the model will be removed from the lineup and replaced by another model, as in the case of the M1210 being replaced by the M1330.

Only then, Dell would place a discount, but not a very significant amount, for the XPS models.
Even so, it wouldn't make much sense to purchase the M1330 when it's already begun to phase out of the lineup. It would be better to purchase a new model, since it would last longer.

dell sometimes offer free upgrades like free upgrade to the discrete graphics or free upgrade to 2 gigs of ram and stuff like that. I have never seen any coupons for the xps systems.

What I'm saying is that by the time there is a discount out for the XPS m1330, it will have already been outdated. Ie. it will be replaced by a newer released model, similar to how the m1210 is being phased out by the m1330.

Simply put, if you want to purchase a notebook, you'd want your notebook to last longer in terms of performance. Since computers are rapidly changing, your computer could easily be outdated within 3 years.

So thus, in order to keep up with Moore's Law, you'd want to purchase a relatively good performing computer system.

My lappy is 2 years old... and its dying... the power connector and the USB ports aren't working properly anymore (I dropped it on a subway). I wish Gateway offered some accidental insurance. *sigh*

    I just can't wait for my m1330!
