Anyone want to guess as to when it'll finally be OK to order an XPS 1330? Given the ridiculous lead times, $600 increase in price compared to a few weeks ago, and the numerous build quality issues, I was ready to order one a few weeks ago, until I started looking into the situation; there's no way I want to order one right now!

I figure I'll start coming back to this forum and dell.com in about 3 or four weeks; if the situation has gotten a lot better, i.e. price back down to what it was; build issues resolved and lead times back to 2 weeks, I'll be ready to order. If not, I'll have to start looking at the Sony SZ and Lenovo T61 14.1… The price for my configuration was about $2200 three or four weeks ago, now it's $2600; I see no reason why it shouldn't go back down to at least $2200 at some point. I suppose all of this will happen at some point; Dell can only sustain these serious issues so long before it really starts to hurt them, it's just a question of how long it will take.

Who knows when the price will go back down!? Probably not for a while. Build quality has improved greatly. Alot of remaining issues are software based and won't be fixed until there are some serious driver or bios updates. I still say Vista is responsible. Not the great OS ever.

We all know as much about this as a doctor knows about the inside of an engine... No one here as any solid idea on what Dell's lead times are like nor do we know what Dell will be pricing at tomorrow, next week, or next year...

As said earlier... Buy one when you want one... Else buy something else... Isn't life easier when you just choose?

If I had the money I'd order an m1330 now. But, being a freshman in college, funds are a bit short. :(

Well it looks like things have sped up, my estimated ship date was October 5th, but it just shipped yesterday (September 16th).
