Here's a problem:
I sent an email to Dell requesting PowerDVD for reinstallation - I didn't get any email notifying me that they received my message.
So I decided to go to chat support and request it there. Anyhow, the guy on chat was kind enough to send me not only that but a Windows XP reinstall (even though unfortunately I ordered one along with the laptop), Sonic CD/DVD software, Dell crapware CD, and yet another Device Drivers CD. Now, the guy in chat, which organized this package for me, said they will not charge anything, but now I'm looking at my Recent Order Status, and it lists 2 packages, one for $11.79 (apparently they did receive my email) and one for $58.95I'm just wondering, do they actually charge you on this, or is it listed just for information purposes?
Can anyone who requested CDs from Dell tell me if they also have these invoices on Dell's site?

When I ordered mine, they were listed as a charge of $0 on the invoice, but I have heard of people that had high charges like that on their invoice before and they didn't get charged. I doubt they'll make you pay, but you could always call to make sure.
-
it is common to see a charge on your account. You'll also receive a return slip with your package and probably an invoice in 2 weeks. I'm not sure about the 58.95. My guess is that they were talking about you buying the full Cyberlink from the software department.
The charge showing up on your account is pretty standard. That will happen with anything that you order from Tech Support. If you call tech support back, it really depends on the tech that you get. I would try to talk to the tech support guy that helped you out.
Generally, i've never heard of them forcing you to send the discs back. -
Strange, l was never charged and l never saw a price on my invoice when l requested my reinstall disk for sonig and cyberlink.

The other one is just PowerDVD + tax. It looks like the guy I sent the email to sent me only the PowerDVD, and the chat guy, who said they won't charge, sent me the 5 CDs.
Here's their reply when I asked them about it via email: "First of all I would like to congratulate you for receiving the CDs. I would like to inform you that as it is on the order details and the price is concerned with the sales and order department we are not able to verify the exact price of any part." -
Normally the cd pack costs only 12 bucks. I'm a bit confused as to why your PowerDVD is a floppy disc and not cd.
-
they're all CDs
EDIT:
well chatting with a Sells Rep solved the problem: they're not charged -
I've been having problems w/ my E1405 (see here) & spoke w/ Dell Tech Support, who assured me the issues would be solved with the CD's that they're sending me (for some reason they think the XP MCE CD that came w/ my M140 is causing the issues). Anyway, for anyone who's interested, here are the CD's & prices shown under my Orders:

I've received CD's from Dell in the past & know that I won't be charged for these. -
It said floppy disk for me too but it is a cd. Maybe dell has some updating to do... -
it is normal to see an invoice. that is their process when giving out something. dont worry about that. you will not be charged for that amount if they promise to give you for free. i asked 3 different reps about that amount when i ordered the cds and they all said it's just the process. they apologized for that confusion and told me just ignore it. i didnt get charged for that amount.

A buddy of mine just bought a E1505. I went on the Dell chat and asked if they would send me the cds. They said it wasn't a problem and they would send them out. Not once did they mention there would be a cost. I would just ignore the invoice.
