On many Dell systems, you can use the preloaded Service Tag application to display the tag on screen, or use a web application to search for the tag. The tag is stored in EEProm.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
For Dell laptops, the service tag is usually stored in the BIOS and on a sticker on the bottom of the machine.

Thanks. Now has anyone done a tutorial on switching out the monitor of a studio xps 16? I want to switch out the monitor (which is immaculate) of the system I ordered first (but have to return due to other hardware issues) with the monitor of the second system (which is crappy, the whites are all off-white, etc...and no amount of reinstalling drivers or playing with settings can fix it) but is mechanically otherwise sound.
