I have an Inspiron 8200 that is about 5 years old. I would like to find out what the specifications are on this machine, but not sure where to look for it? I am shopping for a new computer and just want to be able to figure out what to expect as far as improvement in performance and features for a new laptop.

Anyone ever think about how much better their new machine is from their old one?

If you have not done any upgrade on it, you can actually find out the original configuration at Dell's support page where also shows your warranty status even it is 5-year-old.

I was just thinking though...isn't there somewhere on my machine that indicates what I have? I haven't upgraded it at all since purchase and I did go to that Dell support page and one thing I wanted to find out specifically was which monitor I have because I have enjoyed it and don't want to end up with less next time around. The dell page said there were three options for display so not sure which I have.

Just try the programs listed above :) That way you should be able to find out almost everything, if not everything about your notebook.

Chelet is giving the wrong link. Go to this page. Put in your service tag number and then click on the tab for original configuration.

You are welcome. The nice thing is you don't need to install anything.
