I got the 60 gb 7200 rpm in there now and I think I remember seeing a 100 gb 7200 rpm hard drive being offered for another computer. So I figured it I could easily sell my current drive and put in a larger 100 gb 7200 rpm drive through dell's site.
So is that at all possible? Or will I have to find one from somewhere else and void my warranty or something?
And that sucks that the Go6800 is being phased out (possibly). I hope Dell gets hurt by this and learns a lesson.

yes, you can upgrade to the 7200rpm 100gb. It should be fairly easy to do also, but make sure to request the XP cd from Dell if you haven't already.
It won't void your warranty, but the new HDD won't be covered in your warranty. -

I'm not sure. If you order it through dell parts, someone told me that it would be covered with your warranty. But according to dell's website, they have this little webpage in big bold letters saying any upgrades do not void your warranty, but are not covered by your warranty.
If you order it from dell parts, you might want to ask about the warranty. If you order outside of dell, I would think it would have some limited warranty on it from the manufacturer itself. -

I agree. My suggestion would be buy it off like Newegg.com because they offer a 30-60 day warranty and then whatever the manufacturer's warranty is. Newegg.com will be alot cheaper than Dell spare parts.

I think SG is correct on that one. I did ask one of the sales rep on the Dell chat once regarding the spare parts coverage but she told me that the spare part will be covered for 1 year standard.
Then I found something on the back of a typical Dell Packing Slip that says that "The spare parts are warranted for a period of 90 days or the remaining of the system warranty, whichever is longer."
Emm... on second thoughts, it does make me wonder who/which is correct??? The Dell sales rep or the rules on the packing slip??? -

Go with the packing slip. The Dell sales rep's are exactly that...sales reps, they will say what they need to even if they don't know. I used to be in sales so I know how it is...never did it that way, but they will do almost anything to make a buck.

LOL, i'm in total agreeance with USAF. Go with the packing slip. Dell reps are so diverse on their answers, I have a hard time trusting them.
Plus written word is proof if you need to get it fix where as it with the dell rep, you would have a hard time prooving that. Guess what I'm trying to say is that with warranties, written is the actual policy...
