Let's say you want to upgrade your video cards later:

    1. Where do you get the video card? Dell Spare parts? They'll sell it to you?
    2. How much is a x1400 (I think that's the highest one for e1505).
    3. How difficult is it to install it.

The dedicated graphics card on the 6400/E1505 are not soldered in, so the graphics card can be changed to the ATI X1400. Only those Intel integrated graphics cards are soldered on & cannot be changed.

And if you currently have integrated graphics your going to need a new mobo too. While I havent checked Im betting that you can go out and buy the video card if need be. There has to be a way for customers to buy a video card to replace one in their laptop if for some reason their laptop isnt covered by warrenty any more.

Yes, I know about the video/motherboard issue.

When you buy a Dell e1505, there is an option for the Intel 950 and the two additional options for x1300 and x1400. The first option actually uses a different motherboard than the other two options. If you choose the Intel 950 option, you get the motherboard with the soldered in video card. If you choose the other two options, you can replace it the video card.

Now, I see a lot of people mentioning upgrading their video card, but I never know where they get the cards? Dell Spare parts?

I imagine warranty is void if you try to change the video card, but by the time you want to upgrade, the warranty is probably over any way.

    dell spare parts or ebay.

the only upgrade path is from the 1300 to the 1400. as mentioned, by the time you want to upgrade, the warranty will probably be over. also, by the time you want to upgrade, the cards will be so outdated, i doubt you'd wnt to spend any money upgrading.
