Hey everybody, well my XPS M1530's original 6-cell battery is starting to loose a bit of charge, so I'm looking at getting a 9-cell as I use my laptop without a power cord quite often.

I've seen these Ebay adds stating genuine/original battery's, all come from China and the ones I emailed asking if the package comes sealed from dell, I don't get responses back.

155.xx for the battery is too much from Dell, so I'm looking at other means to get one.

Any suggestions on where I can buy an original/genuine battery other then from Dell?

    Thank you

Buy from a US seller, the batteries coming from Asia are probably fake. There's only one US seller for a new OEM 9-cell, but the feedback history is a bit iffy. It's your call...batteries for this laptop don't seem to be easy to find.

One question...does your M1530 have Intel or Nvidia graphics? If it has the defective Nvidia chip, I wouldn't put any money into the laptop because a GPU failure could happen anytime.

    It has the Nvidia 8400

I've already upgraded to the T9500 and 8 gigs of ram and running strong.
I don't really game so the GPU doesn't get stressed.

It's hard to say though, because playing videos or just normal usage could cause problems. I've had a D620 get a GPU failure under normal office-type work, so it's hard to say. Anyways, just wanted to make sure that you're aware.

Thanks Robin! I've been keeping my fingers crossed for it to keep lasting. It has worked well for so long, I have 3 more years of school left so I hope it can make it.

If not, thinkpad here I come!

Yes but they have the Dell logo on it, so you deal with Dell, not 3rd party Ebay sellers. Plus the quality of 3rd party varies so much, you have no idea what you could be getting. And good luck getting that "5 year warranty" on a battery that costs 40, and to RMA it costs 40 bucks..

What do you mean? OEM Dell batteries from Asia are usually fake.

BTW, the link I listed is OEM from the US.

i agree, but the brand agptek has excellent replacement batteries for dell i have one media bay battery and one 9 cell from agptek and they are both excellent batteries, perhaps better than the oem ones. so in my opinion go for the agptek ones for cheap.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a replacement battery for my E4200?

I checked the seller linked by Robin and they don't have anything for the E4200.

I also searched for aduy's recommended "agptek" and didn't find any E4200 batteries.

    Thanks!

Unfortunately, because the E4200 is a not a popular model, parts are harder to come across. I wasn't able to find any genuine batteries from US sellers on eBay...you might have to get one from Dell.

Thanks for checking Robin24k. I had searched eBay as well and couldn't find anything that appeared to be a true genuine battery.

    aduy, any other suggestions?

Dell charges $140, which at about a quarter of the value of an e4200 refurb these days seems pretty hard to swallow!!

If I can get a cheapo no name battery for around $50, is it worth giving a try?

    Thanks for the advice!

Aftermarket definately not worth it for $50. Keep checking...maybe used ones will turn up.

yeah just keep checking. We dont have Dell outlets here in Malaysia but we do have parallel resellers. Found my 6 cells for E6320 from one of them and it is not even listed on Dell Malaysi. I do have one media bay 3 cell on order from Dell though and that is listed for USD50+ or thereabout.....

Just found out that Dell Malaysia list the 3 year 6 cells for Latitude E6320 for less than 50 dollars..... ha ha. I suppose they are just clearing stock because batteries dont store very long. The more popular models' command almost triple the amount. Lucky me. And I have just discovered one battery re-cell service that does a good job on bringing life to old batteries by changing them cells with better ones.
