I only bought one battery (9 cell) and would now like to have a second smaller battery. Dell's website is not listing them yet. Can I get them through sales chat or phone? Also from people that have them should (or can) I get a 4 cell. I have a dedicated graphics card. I know it gives you an error on the configuration page. Will it not run it? Or does it just die fast? Any real world use of a 4 cell with a m1330 with dedicated graphics.?

    Thanks

Getting a separate battery is essentially impossible. They are not listed on the website *or* the internal system that sales reps use. When I ordered my system, I specifically requested a 9 cell and a 6 cell which is not a combination in the standard configurations. So the rep tried to get the 6 cell separately, but despite much time and many assurances - it didn't show up on my order or arrive with my machine (but at least I wasn't charged for it). I then tried to order the 6 cell over the phone but the rep ended up sending me an Inspiron 1300 battery. I then tried calling back and complained and asked for them to correct this - again the guy tried and failed to find a way and transferred me to the parts department who never picked up.

I then sent an email through their web interface to customer service explaining the whole mess and asking them to sort it out - and they did! Within two days, the 6 cell battery was on it's way along with a shipping label to send the inspiron battery back. I'm glad they were able to sort it out so quickly, but I have no idea what the quickest way to get one is - I don't recommend following all my steps!

That's not very encouraging. Any thoughts about a 4 cell?

Actually you can buy a battery on the website, you just have to enter the manufacturer part number. It should consist of 2 letters and 3 numbers. If the one you have is not listed, they will show you an alternate part number. Now you just have to find someone with the part number for the type of battery you want, since you are looking for a 4 or 6 cell and not another 9-cell. Did you try entering you part number to see if it shows up?

    6 cell link $52.95 US

    9 cell link - $68.95

I haven't found the 4 cell yet. Prices are fairly reasonable

You can buy them on the phone atleast in australia. So I would assume most other places.

When i ordered my laptop I got the CSR to add a "Kit - 6-cell 56Whr Lithium Ion Primarty Battery" to my order although he needed to go and get aproval for somewhere before he did this. The part code on my order is MR407 for it so hopefully that will help
