Where can one find find a reasonably price Nvidia go 7900 gs? I would like a new card for my e1705. Is Dell and maybe eBay the only retailer? Thanks in advance

Do you currently have integrated graphics? If you do you cannot upgrade video cards.

No, I have an Ati Radeon mobility x1400 at the moment with a Duo core processor.

Thanks, I can't link there at the moment but I assume it is the one (and only one) I saw there lastnight. Still pricey and prob worth just buying from Dell at that price.

Im not sure if you can buy them from dell. I looked at replacement parts and none are listed. You could try calling dell and ask.

I called Dell and they are quoting $369. Some folks on eBay are getting close to that for used ones and asking way more than that for new ones. I guess only they are only distributed to comp manufacturers.

I would look into the 7800 but there are heat issues in the e1705 - thanks.

So the only place you say to get a 7900 is from dell?

and you say there are heat issues with the 7800 in e1705s... wouldnt there be one as well with the 7900 then?

the 7900 is built upon a smaller core process than the 7800, resulting in a slightly faster, but much more effiicent cooler running chip
