Suppose I wanted an N-card down the line. I didn't have the money to upgrade then but in the future I wish to...where would I look?

You can pick them up on eBay, too.

I'm getting my friend to trade me his Intel 3945 for my Dell 1390.
He has OS x86 on his laptop and it doesn't work with the 3945, but it'll work with the 1390.
