Where's my Physics accelerator??!

my xps 1730 doesn't have a ageis physics card??!

it's included in all 1730 configurations. argh.. they sent me a rig without the major component. It's like buying a car without a steering wheel.

 

what the hell? they owe you big time for that screw up? youre in Canada?

 

call dell to get a compensation.

 

It won't make any difference in 99% of the games. How dare they take your mommy's hard-earned money and not deliver the 31337-est component of the laptop?

yah the dell tech came to the same conclusion. Production forgot to install the card. rofl! its ok, I sent it to a Dell Depot 45 mins away from my house and they are gonna install one for me. I should get it mid next week. No biggie. I was having fun with all the leds though, i'd play mp3's and turn off the lights and my xps would provide a cool light show.

 

Should just ask for a new one, do you really want some random tech with no experience on new laptop pulling it apart to install the chip?

 

Laptops are not that much harder to upgrade than PCs...

 

Yah I thought about that too. But other than the missing card, the laptop is flawless. I dont wanna risk sending it back and getting a new one with possible grainy screen and other flaws. I'll take my chances and if something happens to it, I can always have it replaced. Also to get a new one I'd have to wait just as long as if I was buying a new laptop. 3-4 weeks is too long. Dell depot can have it installed and back to me within 5 days. And a tech with no exp?! how could he be called a tech if he had no experience?

 

In Australia we have to pay an extra $250 dollars to get the card.

 

But does the price without it equate to $250 less than the standard config in the US?

 

Your analogy is a little flawed......it would be like buying a car without a muffler.

You can still use your laptop without the Physics accelerator, but it'll work better with it......just as a car would work better with a muffler. Your car would be useless without a steering wheel!

 

Anyway, hows the laptop Almightiness? I just ordered one myself a few days ago and id be interested in hearing your views on it. Tried any games yet?

 

yah that's true. I was a little angry when I posted that. Wasn't thinking straight. I'm ok now.

 

I would say more like buying your car without GPS. It's a nice feature, but doesn't have anything to do with the basic functions of the unit. You'd be surprised how important a muffler is.

 

It's a really nice system. I love the feel of the keyboard. I've only tried the Ghost recon that came with it. Runs smooth, even without the physics card. I actually play World of Warcraft. I don't play many other games. The LED's are really nice I can imagine how fast the battery gets run down having those on the whole time you're using them. My problem is finding a bag that fits. I've tried many 17" bags. This beast won't fit in any of them. Might have to order a custom made one.

 

Tell that to the schmuck who drives by my house twice a day (for the last 6 months) who doesn't have a muffler on his car!

 

Lol, just get his plates and call the cops for a noise violation. They'll make him put a muffler on his car.
