    Hey all,

I was just wondering if Dell has released the BIOS update that they said they would yet. I looked for it on the internet, and couldn't find it, so I'm assuming it's been delayed. Does anyone know what happened to it? It's supposed to fix the CPU whine as well as the headphone jack noise, correct???

While they're at it, they should fix the stereo mix issue too..........grrrr...damn you sigmatel.

    Thanks.

Coul we get a bit of a guide there vostro1400user? Or think you could tell us which is the updated BIOS?

As far as I know, if it was out we'd know more about it.

well, you got to know the name of file for your laptop in first place, for instance, for vostro 1500, it's 1500_A00.EXE now, if newer version appears, you might see 1500_A01.EXE or 1500_A06.EXE etc. the best place to find the update would be support.dell.com....

I don't remember Dell giving a release date for the BIOS so how could it be delayed?

Haven't heard about it, but if it fixes the CPU whine I'm all for it. RightMark CPU Clock fixes it, but freezes the OS on battery. I've been hoping Dell would release one of these.

But I think I'll wait for it to be officially released rather than download the File Transfer Protocol one. AFAIK, it's really bad if the BIOS gets messed up, so playing it safe is highly recommended here. Same reason I didn't try installing an HP BIOS upgrade that fixed the CPU whine on my Dell.

FTP would be unofficial or broken? I'm not sure what the File Transfer Protocol has to do with official or broken BIOS files?

Installing an HP BIOS on a Dell machine would be very silly and a quick way to brick a machine...
