Hi all,
i want to upgrade my harddrive and i can't decide which HDD should i buy.
Shop, where i want to buy it, offers these two drives:
TOSHIBA MK3252GSX (HDD2H01) 320GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s
or
Western Digital Scorpio WD3200BEVT 320GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s
I don't need to care about prize difference between these two drives, all i want is a good, silent and fast hard drive.
I know, that the 7200rpm HDD would be faster, but because of capacity i must look for 5400rpm drive.
So which of these two should i buy?? Now i'm using 160GB 5400rpm SATA drive by Fujitsu which i rate as a little bit more noiser than it should be.

The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
I would say WD.Their scorpio series is pretty good.I don't know about toshiba though.

I preffer WDs too, but i don't have any experiences with Toshiba drives. So i don't know what to think about them.

Don't have any experience with Toshiba either, but as far as I've seen Western Digitals are reliable and it's the cheaper one too so that's the one I'd get. (in fact, I might get it myself, my current hard drive is dying as I type this
)

Yeah, as i said, i like WDs too, i had many of them in desktops, but in my previous laptop i think i had some Hitachi and now i have the Fujitsu drive...but i think that i will buy the WD drive...in our local shop it is cheaper and i think that in this review it has very good performance and author said that drive was very quiet and cool and that counts too

One of my friends had some very bad experiences with a 4200 RPM Toshiba drive which came with his Toshiba A210-16G laptop. Lots of blue screens, S.M.A.R.T. readings already looking very bad (40% health/performance in HDD Life Pro) so I wouldn't recommend you to buy the Toshiba.
WD, by the other hand, are very reliable, durable hard drives. As far as I know, the 5400 drives are very fast too (55 Mb/s in HD Tune). -
According to my experience from the past, Toshiba is very quiet drive but then it gives you a lot of blue screen, and few problem after you used them for few weeks.
I recommended you not to try them including Fujitsu drive, i've changed my hard drive for few times until Compaq has decided to give me WD at the end. -
i am using Toshiba 320GB as my primary drive now. the drive is quite ok, cool, a little more noisy than samsung 320GB BUT has no "clunk" noise issue. performance wise, it's about average, not as fast as samsung's HM320JI. Vista WEI 5.5, so u can imagine how fast this drive is compared to 7200RPM ones. pretty happy with the drive so far.

Hmm...so now it's 5:1 for WD...i think i'd go for it...if it will be noisy or something i'll return it back and try Toshiba drive...
Which 320GB HDD for my Inspiron 1520??
