Which DELL is appropriate for my needs?

I need 3 laptops for my employees that will be utilized for basic computing - MS Word, MS Excel and a lil bit of web surfing. It also needs to have XP Pro.

Should I go Vostro? If so, which processor should I get?

    Thanks!!!!

Im not a laptop expert but vostro is good for buissiness needs, processor should go for what you think, if you doing a lot of high end stuff that takes RAM and is overkill on the pc then get a good processor.

Vostro and a C2D will be fine. Any C2D should be okay. Even a Celeron might work, but the C2D's are a pretty cheap upgrade.

An extended warranty on them should be good. Since you're buying three, you might be able to get discounts by calling up Dell.

The Vostro would be a solid choice for small business needs. I would go with the Core 2 Duo too.

Just get at least 2 gigs of ram for vista . . . that will really help keep things running smooth. If you are going to have a lot of data, a larger hard drive will usually run faster longer. (most hard drives lose about half thier speed when they are full . . . but can run full speed up until about 1/3 to 1/4 full.)

I agree the vostro is a good choice. I personally have a vostro 1500 and while its a little bulky its also built very sturdy and i have no concerns about the durability of the machine.

Is there a reason I should not go with the AMD processor line that comes with the Vostro 1000?

    Thanks!!!

The AMD would be a fine processor to have, I forgot some systems offer it.
