    I need a non-glossy 17 inch laptop...

    the 1720 anti-glare doesn't cut it...

which 17 inch dell still has the old school screen?

and don't bother with the m90... i want it under $2000...

    :)

You may want to try in Dell Outlet for a M90.

I have a 1420 with "anti-glare" and I am sure that it is not just a coating on a glossy screen. It seems to me (and I would bet money on this) that it is a regular "matte" screen. It does seem, though, that the Dell sales reps are not aware that matte and anti-glare are the same thing in this case. When I ordered the computer and asked for matte finish, the man didn't understand until I asked for anti-glare. I am actually very impressed with the screen, it is perfect inside on almost any brightness setting and easy to see in direct sunlight at max brightness.

My bet is that the anti-glare is the regular matte screen as well.

The M6300 has 3 screen options, only one which is glossy. I'm sure the non-glossy screen are also an option on the 1730.
