It looks like the 2nd configuration is priced at $699 on the Dell website, but here's an EVEN BETTER setup for $699- LINK

    2.2GHz Intel C2D T6600
    Win7 Home Premium 64-bit
    15.6" HD+ (1600x900) 900p Bright TrueLife LED
    4GB RAM
    500GB 7200rpm Hard Drive
    512MB ATI HD 4570
    Intel 5100AGN wireless card
    15-mos McAfee Security Center
    1-yr LoJack for Laptops included

That's an amazing setup for $700!

That is a VERY good setup for $700. But quite honestly, what level of games do you want to play? I have the 4570, and I can play most games well on low setting.

For games, CPU and Video are often the determining factors.

I bought the $699 one that is on sale right now for those specs.
Quite a good setup of hardware for that price.

The only two upgrades that I would personally make are the display and the backlit keyboard.

It already has the 900p display (1600x900) but the 1080p (1920x1080) is only $25 more! For a lot of folks, 1920x1080 is too much on 15.6" display (the default size of text and icons is usually too small). But there are ways to correct those issues, but it can require time, patience and trail and error. And the 900p display is one of the best I've ever seen, but for $25 it would be tough to resist getting the highest resolution. :D

Dell has me hooked on backlit keyboards now. I don't think I could buy a laptop without one now! And when I bought my Studio 1535 back in August 2008 it was a $50 upgrade, now it's only $25! I paid $49 for the upgrade on my current Latitude E6400, so $25 is a steal on the 1555! :D

I have a 1555 with a 1080px screen. Text is small but I do not have trouble reading things. Video looks amazing.
