I have never had issues with notebook RAM incompatibility but I would like to know what RAM people have put into there Vostro 1400 and if it worked well. I am thinking of getting the 1GB version and then buying 2 1GB modules to replace it and I am looking at CT12864AC667 or KVR667D2S5/1G which are generic RAM basically and I am just wondering if this will be Ok and what everyone else has used. Kingston recommends KTD-INSP6000B/1G so thats another reason that I'm not sure the generic one will work.

Memory is cheap, go for 2x2GB from Transcend for around $100. You'll love it. You can buy it from: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208341
