I have never had issues with notebook RAM incompatibility but I would like to know what RAM people have put into there Vostro 1400 and if it worked well. I am thinking of getting the 1GB version and then buying 2 1GB modules to replace it and I am looking at CT12864AC667 or KVR667D2S5/1G which are generic RAM basically and I am just wondering if this will be Ok and what everyone else has used. Kingston recommends KTD-INSP6000B/1G so thats another reason that I'm not sure the generic one will work.

Yes. It is a standard DDR2 200 pin SODIMM PC2-5300 memory module.
