Im testing serveral right now and the Mtrons are the best. Dell only sells the Samsung 64Gb at present and the tests show its speeds to be decent as well. Im sure if you asked, they may let you still grab a 32BGb.

I expect to have a review of all the top SSDs done within a week.

Lucky me eh?? A house full of SSDs.

Personally, I would wait. I'm sure they'll come out with faster and larger SSD's in no time.

The Supertalent 128GB does not come out in a 2.5" form factor. Nobody knows how to get all that flash into a 2.5" presently.

The Mtron is the fastest by far and have yet another faster one expected out shortly. I am running the mtron right now and it is worlds apart from the others.

As for pricing, I am working on that with the companies i am testing for. Hopefully, there will be good pricing news in my article this week.

I haven't paid for any SSDs but have become recognized as a reliable SSD source somehow. Just turned down an exclusive request from Toms Hardware to stay here in fact. Am I nuts?!?!?!

The Mtron 64Gb will not be out until 2nd half of 2008 which is much the same as many others. Mtron decided to tackle the being the performance best factor first and with their new ASIC SSD that will run at 120/100 read/write...WATCH OUT!!! The only 64Gb right now is the samsung which amazes me as to why they do not release a good distributor to buy from. They are in huge demand though as Dell sold out instantly.

I should have lots of news this week.

I can't justify SSD ownership at anything less than 160GB. That doesn't even take into account how much something as 'bleeding edge' as that kind of capacity would actually retail for at the moment.

It's still not a particularly viable alternative storage option for me. As nice as all the other benefits of the format sound. Oh well, maybe in a couple of years eh?

in my case 80gb is more than enough at least for now...
so clearly its worth waiting for the faster ssds and update the hdd later, dont spend the 1000$ on an ssd now, but wait a bit and change it up?
    thanks a lot

A 64 GB SSD would be perfect for me, as my HDD now is only 60 GB.

Now if only I could afford one. :(

It is a definite go for me at 64GB. So I also want it fast and cheap. Good job flamenko for bringing us this excellent info.
