Today's coupons are not as good. $300 off $1500 or more.

Are the 20% off ones about as good as it gets?

Lately they are yes, kind of sucky discounts compared to this time last year when Dell was offering $750 off coupon codes :(

    I remember those... I didn't need a laptop then... :(

So, wait for the 20% to come back?

luckily i purchased mine with 750$ off, but it's still weak in performance and price compare to other users bought.

whoa... $750? Be lucky guys. Up here in the North, we barely get any discounts, much less $750. There was a 25% of coupon going around for Canada, and everybody went crazy for it :).

i purchased an e1405 earlier this week on the 20% off deal and it got me a $338 discount. basic math says that $300 off a $1500 notebook is 20%, so if you know your whole configuration is going to be more than $1500, the 20% is better, if you're right @ $1500 (needed to qualify), its exactly the same..

so yes, the 20% off could be viewed as slightly better.

Yeah, the configurations I was looking at are ~$300 more under the new coupon scheme.

    We'll see what 10/19 brings...

Nowadays, it is fair to say that 20% off are massive discounts from Dell but with the holiday season (Christmas) around the corner, you never know what kind of surprise they have in store for us.... hope it is as good as last year.
